Why we retired in the Flathead Valley

My family is always anxious to visit here. They are amazed at the activities available year around. Winter finds them cross country/alpine skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling or snow boarding at one of the beautiful ski areas. The not-so-hardy love the quaint shops in Bigfork or Whitefish and the shopping malls, museums and the Conrad Mansion.

A trip to Glacier Park is always a must. Regardless of the season, the scenery is magnificent. In the spring you might be lucky enough to see some of the baby wildlife and beautiful alpine flowers. Summer is excellent for fishing or hiking. Fall provides an adventure in unbelievable color. Winter is open for the cross country skier and snowshoeing. There are many lodges/hotels to see. One of the favorites is Lake McDonald Lodge built in 1895 when the area was still wild country.

Big game and upland bird hunting is popular with the guys; both Rifle and bow. The fisherman is flustered with so many lakes, rivers and streams and so little time. Flathead Lake is the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi River and is always popular with our sailboat crowd, water skiers and swimmers.

When we retired we couldn't think of anyplace better than the Flathead Valley to live, play and stay healthy. The medical community is unbelievable! And, why not, the medical practitioners want to live in "God's Country" too!

Golf! The Flathead Valley has 9 beautifully manicured and challenging courses. These mountain view courses are all within a 30 mile radius, making for a golfers paradise.

During our working years we usually went to see the kids on vacations arranged around family events. Since we have retired and settled in the Flathead Valley, the kids come to visit us – why? Because the area offers something for everyone. They love it here and we love having them.
